EEG Technician performs electroencephalograms in accordance with established practices and procedures. Attaches electrodes to the patient. Being an EEG Technician records impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brain to obtain data for use in the diagnosis of brain disorders. Provides preliminary diagnostic evaluation and notifies neurologist of results of examinations. Additionally, EEG Technician consults with neurologist to establish requirements for non-standard examinations and determines technical factors to satisfy requirements. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The EEG Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be an EEG Technician typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

    As an EEG Technician you will:

    • Provides comprehensive care to patients requiring diagnostic testing in an organized and systematic manner according to established department/hospital policies and standards unless specified differently by the Cardiologist.
    • Responds effectively in an patient care emergency situation and adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care. Communicates proactively to the health care team; plan of care, changes in patients condition and other relevant information and documents in accordance to established unit and/or hospital procedures.
    • Collaborates with patients, significant others, physicians and other ancillary departments to become a multidisciplinary healthcare team whose goal is to provide care that is continuous and well coordinated.

    Qualifications
    • HS Diploma or equivalent.
    • 6 months EEG experience.
    • BLS Certification required (must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
    • Electroencephalogram (EEG) certification preferred.
