The North America Environmental Assurance and Protection (EAP) organization is seeking a Multi-Site Environmental Manager (MSEM) to support our Amazon Logistics (AMZL) Operations across the West Super Region. This role supports multiple sites (20 ) within a specific Sub Super Region (West Region). This region will cover Southern California, San Diego Sub Region.
The MSEM will develop standards and policies to support regulatory compliance as well as partner with operations leadership teams for execution of these standards and policies, ensuring compliance with all applicable county/locations, specific Federal, State/Provincial, and local laws and regulations.
The MSEM is site-based and will have direct reports at selected AMZL stations. The MSEM visits assigned sites (20 ) in their Sub Super/ Sub regions 2-3 times monthly. The MSEM travels greater than 50% of the time. The MSEM is based is in the San Diego, CA area, where different base sites are located.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage & execute multi-site responsibilities to comply with air emissions, storm water, waste, wastewater and other environmental related laws, regulations and permits. This includes required Federal, State and local reporting.
- Manage & execute business conformance with Amazon EAP Management Systems policies. Develop Amazon Geo-Specific Operational Environmental Procedures by integrating with engineering, construction and operations.
- Lead regulatory agency interactions, permit evaluation and processing, and new process and technology introduction.
- Primary point of contact for environmental regulatory agencies and represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the company.
- Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with regulatory requirements and Amazon standards.
- Monitor environmental metrics to review trends to determine where improvements are needed.
- Conduct thorough and accurate environmental inspections and audits for continuous improvement.
- Prioritize and manage multiple, technically complex assignments, concurrently.
- Build and manage collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed appropriately.
- Compile and submit time critical reports to various governmental agencies.
- Complete environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports, and develop appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure site leadership and associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy.
A day in the life
The MSEM will complete environmental performance analysis, establish and monitor metrics, and guide the operations leadership teams in implementation of Amazon environmental policies and standards within their sub regional sites. The MSEM will work with internal and external partners that include government entities, contractors, consultants, design, construction, operations and other key stakeholders.

- 5 years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level

- Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $61,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $126,400/year in our highest geographic market.
