Serves as a knowledgeable resource for employees seeking information and guidance on mental health and wellness topics. Being an EAP Counselor conducts confidential assessments to determine the needs of employees seeking assistance. Provides short-term counseling and support services to employees and provides referrals to external resources when necessary. Additionally, EAP Counselor maintains accurate and confidential records of EAP services provided, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The EAP Counselor occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Position Description
    Reporting to the Department Chair of Student Health Services, the Mental Health Counselor provides a full range of counseling and clinical services and provides outreach and community engagement programming including professional development, trainings, and workshops with an emphasis on culturally responsive clinical work for all student populations including the following focus populations: Black/African-American, Latino/a/x communities, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Filipino/a/x, Students with disabilities, LGBTQ , students facing homelessness or housing insecurity, Foster Youth, Justice Impacted (students formerly incarcerated)

    Primary duties include providing direct clinical interventions and evaluating and assessing student needs. Additionally, the Mental Health Counselor provides referrals to campus and community resources to secure basic needs and to ensure continuity of therapeutic care.

    Job Duties
    1. Evaluate and provide culturally responsive mental health services to diverse student populations including crisis intervention, short-term psychotherapy, psycho-educational support groups; referral and follow-up.

    2. Implement programs/projects in collaboration with student health colleagues and other departments, incorporating social justice, social/cultural awareness and clinical perspectives.

    3. Offer faculty and staff consultation regarding students.

    4. Operating from a strong equity lens, conduct outreach/programs on campus regarding mental health services and activities.

    5. Design and conduct staff development workshops.

    6. Perform clinical supervision of mental health interns within licensure scope and coordinate or participate in the coordination of the mental health internship program.

    7. Assist in generating reports and related documentation on accountability of service, grants, budgets, program review/licensing, QA, Peer Review, etc.

    8. Work to support the mission of the college and as a team member in college setting.

    9. Willing to work day, evenings, and/or Saturday schedules as assigned.

    10. Assist department in assessing Student Learning Outcomes (SLO’s) and Student Service Outcomes (SSO’s) as related to Student Health Services.

    11. Supports and engages in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.

    12. Participates in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism to center pedagogy.

    13. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    Minimum Qualifications

    CITY COLLEGE OF SAN FRANCISCO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
    1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).

    2. Earned Master’s Degree in Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Guidance Counseling, Educational Counseling, Social Work, Career Development, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT ;
    OR
    Earned Bachelor’s Degree in the discipline of the assignment from an accredited institution AND a valid California license in Marriage and Family Therapist ( MFT ); or the equivalent;
    OR
    Hold a fully-satisfied Life California Community College Counselor Credential (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990).

    3. Possession of a valid California Psychology, LMFT , LCSW or LPCC license.

    Desirable Qualifications
    1. Experience providing culturally relevant counseling services to diverse student populations.

    2. Clinical experience in psychodynamic psychotherapy, crisis intervention short-term psychotherapy, psychological assessment skills, and psycho-educational support groups especially appropriate for college students.

    3. Demonstrated ability to design and implant projects from social/clinical perspective, ensuring that underserved and vulnerable student populations receive culturally competent mental health services (including referral services).

    4. Experience in providing consultation to staff/faculty or organizational matters.

    5. Familiarity with San Francisco Bay Area community mental health resources and organizations for client referral.

    6. Knowledge of and experience in developing and providing clinical supervision for trainee, Masters’ level and Ph.D. level training.

    7. Professional experience working with diverse populations and ethnic groups.

    8. Familiarity with development and measuring methods for quality assurance and peer review.

    9. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly through oral and written form.

    10. Proficiency in computer database management, word processing, Excel, email, Power Point, and patient electronic health record systems.

    11. Ability to provide psychotherapy in English as well as one or more of the languages most likely spoken by CCSF students such as Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese, Tagalog, Vietnamese, etc.

    12. Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team with Nurse Practitioners, Medical Evaluation Assistants, and other staff and administrators.

    13. Evidence of successful instructional experience at the university or college level using culturally responsive pedagogy.

    14. Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted students.
