EAP Counselor counsels and assists employees with issues affecting job-related performance and personal well-being. Evaluates and recommends outside treatment and counseling if necessary. Being an EAP Counselor requires a bachelor's/master's degree. Typically reports to a manager. To be an EAP Counselor typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Provides short-term counseling, assessment and referrals for clients of the EAP. Conducts supervisor information and training sessions. Consults with supervisors, managers and HR staff. Serves as a lead worker to other EAP Counselors. May serve as back-up for EAP Manger and EAP Director in supervising the office; and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
* Master’s in social work or related field
* Excellent interpersonal and team leadership skills
* Excellent clinical skills in mental health and addictions treatment
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ten or more years of experience
* Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) highly recommended
