EDC expresses its commitment to increasing equity through its strategies, services and products, which contribute to building capacity and transforming lives.Work location: US-based employees can work remotely. Job DescriptionThe Senior Business Development Manager is a member of the U.S. Division Development Team, reporting to the Division Business Development Director. The person in this role will provide support across the business development lifecycle as an integrated team member, including pipeline management, bid decisions, proposal management and reviews, and strategic reporting.Tasks and Responsibilities:Conduct long-term and short-term strategic research that informs the growth strategy of the divisionSupport data analysis, reporting, and knowledge management to inform business development strategy and operationsServe as capture lead for specific new business opportunities, maintaining the capture plan which directs the strategy on competitors, client, win themes, recruitment, and draft solution designServe as proposal manager from RFP release through post-submittal, submitting all proposals on-time and with the highest quality of workmanshipContribute to assigned bids and support proposals, including participating in proposal writing, budgeting, copy-editing, packaging, and submissionProvide quality control for the proposal and proposal process; interpret solicitations to ensure that the proposal complies with all donor requirements and ensure timely submissionAssemble proposal components into a coherent whole and conduct/oversee final review and editing to ensure compliance with donor requirements and consistency of usage and appearanceMentor and coach proposal team members and technical staff in best practices in proposal developmentDevelop and/or implement tools, guides, and templates and other resources to support business development effortsCreate project or research snapshots, briefings, in-depth profiles, capacity statements, and other written materials to inform EDC positioning for a bid or to be integrated into proposalsServe as the U.S. Division BD liaison to other EDC departments, external partners, and funding agenciesCommunicate clearly and courteously; develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, field sites, and funders; work respectfully with EDC colleaguesThe job requires adherence to EDC policies & proceduresQualificationsThis position requires educational achievement; knowledge of federal funding mechanisms; excellent writing skills; demonstrable initiative, creativity, and flexibility; ability to work independently and effectively in groups; and strong interpersonal & organizational skills.Education:Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education & experienceOther skills/experience:Strong project, proposal, and people management skills4-5 years business development related experience, minimum of 4 years of experience managing large, complex proposals in response to RFPs/RFAs issued by US Government agenciesUnderstanding of and experience with government agencies, including their priorities, forecasts, and the requirements of various funding instrumentsFamiliarity with funding research tools such as ResearchPoint, Lexis Nexis, Foundation Center, Donor Search, Foundation Search, iWave, GovWinIQ, and GSA AdvantageExcellent written and verbal communication skills, able to write persuasive proposals and reportsExcellent relationship development skills; experience communicating and networking with donors and key partnersStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat Professional required; knowledge of Salesforce is a plusAptitude in CRM systems for information and client relationship managementAbility to work with flexibility, efficiency, enthusiasm, diplomacy, and cultural sensitivity – both individually and as part of a team – and to adjust to shifting prioritiesPreferred skills/experience:Experience working with Zoho or similar system.Additional InformationEDC is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to enhancing the diversity of its workforce and ensuring an equitable and highly inclusive work environment.
