Drug Safety/Medical Information Specialist is responsible for collecting, monitoring, processing, and distributing adverse event reports and information queries for investigational and marketed products. Reviews safety and medical information for the assigned products, including safety components of protocols and studies for assigned drugs. Being a Drug Safety/Medical Information Specialist may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Drug Safety/Medical Information Specialist typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor

  • CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    May include any and/or all of the following:

    • Conduct clinical interviews, service recommendation, and provider provision to individuals convicted of driving while impaired or driving while less than 21 years old after consuming alcohol or drugs to either attend an alcohol and drug education traffic (ADET) school or obtain treatment.
    • Assess treatment needs via clinical interviews and make recommendations for treatment based on the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Placement Criteria.
    • Conduct need and risk assessments to assists participant'sin developing Person-Centered treatment plan goals. Evaluate the participant's progress toward reaching his or her goals and modify his or her treatment plan to reflect progress toward achieving goals.
    • Facilitates psycho-educational and behavior modification groups. Document participants’ attendance, participation and progress in the company’s EHR system.
    • Maintains accurate clinical documentation including intake summaries, group notes, discharge summaries, treatment plans and updates. Updates therapeutic logs in a timely manner. Enters pertinent information into Company database.
    • Models positive reinforcement, redirection, de-escalation, anticipatory guidance, and other positive behavioral strategies.
    • Coordinates counseling efforts with medical professionals or other health professionals, such as doctors, nurses, or social workers.
    • Complete authorization request to the applicable MCO or UM department.
    • Participate in required staff meetings an client conferences.
    • Participate in ongoing in service training to enhance skills.
    • Promotes Epiphany Family Services program through community networking.
    • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

    • Ability to speak and write effectively for the purpose of maintaining effective relations with clients, stakeholders, and staff members.
    • Must have knowledge and maintain compliance with state standards for the program's licensure requirements governed by North Carolina rules & General Statutes.
    • Ability to perform duties physically and mentally without harm to self or others.
    • Knowledge of state and federal confidentiality laws including HIPAA regarding documentation, reporting, and disclosure of protected healthcare information.
    • At least 1 year experience an using EHR system
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, Etc.)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and experience:

    May include any and/or all of the following:

    • Be at least 21 years of age
    • Must have certification by the NC Substance Abuse Professional Certification Board (CADC) and Certification from National Board.
    • Has no substantiated findings of abuse or neglect listed on the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.

    Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

    Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

    Ability to Relocate:

    • Albemarle, NC: Relocate before starting work (Required)
