Responsibilities:
• Responsibility includes supervising and coordinating the functions and activities in all divisions of the clinical laboratory.
• Ensures proper documentation of Laboratory staff members in relation to educational and training activities.
• Considers the impact of CHS and SJH Laboratory Services, departmental and procedural decisions, on the overall functioning of the entire institution with regard to optimal patient care. Demonstrates appropriate understanding of the needs of patients and visitors for each specific age group. Addresses safety and psychological needs of the age groups in planning and delivering care.
• Ensures that the turnaround times, quality and range of services for the clinical laboratory are acceptable to members of the medical staff; implements corrective actions as required; responds to all medical staff concerns. Promptly investigates complaints concerning Laboratory Services and takes appropriate action.
• Effectively establishes priorities for ongoing clinical laboratory operations; function in an efficient manner; meets deadlines for departmental programs and special projects. Anticipates the replacement needs of aging laboratory equipment; submits capital requests as appropriate.
• Assists in ensuring, establishing, and maintaining data gathering mechanisms to assist in annual operating budgets, capital budgets, and projections for future demands and expansions.
Qualifications:
• Licensed in NY state as a clinical laboratory technologist
• Baccalaureate Degree in medical technology
• Masters preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Minimum 6 years related experience and/or training with laboratory operations
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Medical Technologist.
