Drafting Supervisor supervises a team within an organization's computer-aided design (CAD) department. Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of drafters and other employees working on design projects. Being a Drafting Supervisor ensures deadlines, goals, and production standards for the department are met. Analyzes data and reviews drawings/plans to ensure quality of work and project feasibility. Additionally, Drafting Supervisor reviews project results and makes recommendations for improvement. Provides CAD technical support and develops solutions. Uses knowledge of the field to keep the department's software, techniques, and tools up to date. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Drafting Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor (Drafting) position in the Industrial & Transportation Technology department in the Academic & Student Affairs division. This position is located at Atlanta Tech's Main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.
Under general supervision of the Dean of Industrial & Transportation Technology and program coordinator, the Adjunct Drafting instructor provides instruction to students. This role requires a dedicated individual able to select and assess student learning outcomes, foster effective learning in both classroom and lab settings, and promote good public relations via contacts and regular communications with business, industry, and the public sector.
Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:
· Assist with development and review of program and syllabi, goals and objectives according to approved curriculum and course syllabi standards.
· Evaluate and review students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
· Advise and counsel students and maintain appropriate advisement records on each student.
· Demonstrate and ensure the use of appropriate and effective teaching techniques, testing and grading procedures (including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements).
· Display excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Maintain and review classrooms and laboratories in accordance with approved classroom and lab management plans.
· Maintain and review program certification requirements, as appropriate.
· Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports.
· Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
· Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
· Demonstrates knowledge of current practices in the related fields.
· Follow and enforce rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution.
· Select and assess student learning outcomes, foster effective learning in both classroom and lab settings, and promote good public relations via contacts and regular communications with business, industry, and the public sector; and
· Perform additional duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess and demonstrate the following:
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field AND eighteen (18) credit hours in Computer Aided Design (CAD), Drafting or Engineering Graphics.
· Knowledge of AutoCAD and Rivet software.
· Must be able to instruct students and handle administrative responsibilities related to the position.
· Must be energetic, highly motivated, self-directed, open to new ideas and customer focused.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
