Summary / Objective

As a drafter this individual will work directly with the customer and engineering to design solutions based on the customer’s needs and develop detailed 3D models and 2D CAD drawings to aid in construction. Along with project design, this individual is responsible for coordination with Unistrut estimators and operations to align goals of exceeding customer expectations.

Essential Job Functions

• Work directly with Unistrut estimation & sales to provide design and CAD time for quoting purposes as well as technical support.
• Communicate directly with customers during the Engineering phase when needed.
• Design and develop innovative solutions and methods to increase Engineering efficiency and quality.
• Manage projects and project schedules as part of collective team goals.
• Analyze and review all customer reference drawings and information.
• Assist in development of Inventor standard library and processes.
• Documenting customer and internal project info and communications.
• Establish and Maintain DM design and drafting standards.
• Provide 3D solid models to the Marketing and Sales teams.
• Provide 3D solid models to customers and participate in coordination activities/meetings/operations with multiple trades, on an as needed basis. Primarily using Autodesk/.

Work Environment

This individual will work in an office setting in Avon Lake, Ohio. There may be times where this individual may need to enter the warehouse plant floor, in this setting constant awareness of the surroundings and safety will be required.

Physical Demands

This is a largely sedentary role. This position may require the employee to sit at a computer station/desk for prolonged periods of time up to 8 hours a day. The employee is regularly required to read, count, and write to accurately complete documentation required for position. The employee must be able to use hands and fingers to operate keyboard and phone and to file and operate office equipment. This position may require some walking, bending, reaching, and standing. The individual may need to occasionally lift 50 lbs. when needed.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Required work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a 1-hour lunch Monday through Friday. Flex-time schedule available with supervisor approval. Eligible for work from home schedule with supervisor’s approval.

Travel

No travel required. Note: The possibility of going on a site visit or installation for training purposes may be an option.

Required Education and Experience

• Inventor Professional and/or Solidworks
• AutoCad
• Microsoft office
• Experience reading architectural/structural blueprints, plans, and details

Preferred Education and Experience

• Structural steel drafting/detailing/design
• NavisWorks
• Vendor Part/Application Selection
• 3D Part/Assembly Modeling
• 3D Modeling Techniques in relation to BOM generation
• OSHA/ANSI fall protection standards/knowledge
• Ability to interpret engineering calculations
