Donor Research Coordinator identifies potential donors and evaluates their interests and capacity to give to the organization. Conducts research and prospecting to locate individuals aligning with the organization's values and mission. Being a Donor Research Coordinator analyzes data for trends and creates donor profiles to assist with donor development, stewardship, and direct communications and fundraising strategy. Uses a database or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to maintain research data and donor records, execute mailing or e-mail campaigns, and create reports. Additionally, Donor Research Coordinator maintains confidentiality and complies with data privacy regulations and policies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Donor Research Coordinator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Position Overview:


    Provides on-site response to assess family dynamics and leads family donation conversations by advocating for donation and supporting families through the organ and tissue donation process. The DAC is a highly skilled, compassionate, and intuitive individual dedicated to GLDP’s mission of saving and enhancing lives through organ and tissue donation.

    Offers organ and tissue donation in an empowering and inspiring manner; Leads donation conversations to consistently insures that families have every opportunity to make informed, proactive, enduring organ and tissue donation decisions; Achieves superior authorization rates equal to or greater than established organizational goal. Confidently communicates with health care team (HCT) to create a timely and collaborative plan for initiating the donation conversation. Adept at communicating with families in such a way that even more complex diagnosis and medical interventions becomes easy to understand. Collaborates with transplant coordinator and other clinical department personnel to maximize all donation opportunities. Responsible for all other duties as assigned.

    We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals with at least two or more years’ experience working with families in crisis in a health-care related environment preferred within the Metro Philadelphia area who will share our team’s mission to improve the quality of life for patients awaiting transplant by maximizing the availability of donated organs and tissues for transplant. We work to ensure the family of each potential donor is treated with the utmost sensitivity and care and that we support them through each step of the donation process.

    Some of the requirements for the Donation Authorization Coordinator role include:

    • At least two years’ experience working with families in crisis in a healthcare related environment, hospice, bereavement counseling center, police work, or area that focuses on helping families cope with and work through loss-based crises.
    • Two or more years’ experience working with bereaved and/or traumatized individuals with a strong understanding of the dynamics of loss and grief.
    • Ability to work empathetically, compassionately, and professionally with families in crisis, to provide informative and inspiring information with the goal of saving as many lives as possible through organ and tissue donation.
    • Superior communication skills, verbal and written, including the ability to translate complex topics into east-to-understand information.
    • Experience and ability to work in a sensitive, compassionate, and goal-oriented manner with families and individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic groups to get to “Yes” for donation.
    • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability for automobile insurance.


    Some of what you will be doing as a Donation Authorization Coordinator:

    • Rotates on-call to facilitate family donation conversations of potential organ donors in collaboration with TC department personnel. Primarily responding to hospitals within the GLDP Metro service area and may be required to facilitate conversations within the entire GLDP service area.
    • Participates in donor evaluation process with focus on determining LNOK, family dynamics, and collaborating with HCT and GLDP colleague to determine what action steps must occur before the donation conversation is initiated.
    • Familiarizes themselves with all pertinent case details before engaging with family.
    • Initiates and leads family donation conversation and all family communication utilizing GLDP standards of practice in person or telephonically.
    • Conducts the Donor Risk Assessment Interview process in collaboration with TC.
    • Completes all required EMR documentation.
    • Provides on-site support to family as long as necessary.
