Distribution Director manages and deploys the operational strategy, business processes, and systems for overall distribution operations, including order fulfillment, warehousing, inventory management, and transportation. Communicates and monitors production measurement metrics and sets performance targets at the team and individual level for all distribution-related functions that align with company objectives and are within regulatory guidelines. Being a Distribution Director utilizes data-driven analytical tools and systems to continuously monitor operations, identify inefficiencies, and develop optimization strategies. Troubleshoots and resolves escalated operational issues. The Institute for Protein Innovation (IPI)is a nonprofit research organization advancing protein science to accelerate research and improve human health. Purpose
As part of IPI’s continuing growth and evolution, we are seeking a Director for the Institute’s antibody distribution activities. The primary purpose of this position is to identify appropriate end users of IPI reagent antibodies and cultivate relationships that will advance the distribution and utilization of IPI reagent antibodies within the scientific community. Potential future protein-related products might include display libraries, plasmids and other affinity reagents.
Primary Areas of Responsibility
Identify and develop new relationships with appropriate end-users of IPI reagent antibodies and expand existing relationships.
Develop channels for antibody distribution through partnerships, affiliations and third-party contract relationships; includes leading all contract negotiations and effectively partnering with the Institute’s legal resources as may be required.
Develop and implement the Institute’s market intelligence strategy and platform to provide current, relevant and insightful data on the external competitive landscape for reagent antibodies. Ensure the Institute remains knowledgeable in and aware of changing market conditions, scientific developments and advancements and trends that impact the work and mission of the Institute.
Provide comprehensive and effective relationship management support and customer service to all external partners; proactively anticipating and addressing issues in an efficient manner.
Develop and implement the Institute’s technical information services, including:
· Technical databases and catalogs of antibodies, antigens, application notes, related publications, etc., with advice from IPI’s scientific staff
· Promoting the development of related education materials, including workshops, courses, etc., in partnership with IPI’s education team
Qualifications
· Minimum of 10 years of management experience in life science research tools and/or services businesses, including significant experience establishing new life science products, services, and/or new business lines.
· Demonstrated experience establishing effective pricing strategies and sales forecasting
· Experience overseeing customer-facing functions such as customer service, technical support, and/or sales support
· Knowledge of the research antibody market and demonstrated track record in the commercialization of antibody products is strongly preferred.
· Proven track record of developing managers and staff under direct mentorship and supervision
· Candidates with MBAs preferred
