Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Distribution Center (DC) Manager this position will be responsible for providing logistics support directing the day-to-day operations of a single distribution center. This can include order entry, routing and dispatching. They assist in the direction of operations and communicate extensively with the Distribution Center Manager on all matters pertaining to the operation of the Distribution Center. Oversees yard employees, inventory management, including receiving, picking, loading, shipping, inventory control, reverse logistics, and safety. This role is challenged to develop new tools and resources that increase efficiency, productivity and support the growth of our business.

Responsibilities:

• Updates DC Manager on problem loads and what actions have been taken; provides updates to General Managers and others on status of loads.
• Planning, coordinating, and monitoring inbound and assists with outbound shipments.
• Monitors daily pick-ups and deliveries; verifies that loads have arrived on time and in good condition to meet quality standards.
• Ability to create and maintain inventory reports.
• Maintains inventory with a high level of accuracy, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and organization while meeting the needs of our customers on a daily basis.
• Ensures adequate staffing to meet business needs through proper scheduling and planning at all times.
• Accurately maintains jobsite inventory and equipment and makes recommendation for repair and replacement.
• Leads projects that improve inventory optimization and create capacity expansion.
• Monitors inventory, processes transfers, conducts cycle counts, receives purchase orders, and makes recommendation on obsolescence for item disposition.
• Performs root-cause analysis of logistics process failures and makes appropriate corrective actions as necessary.
• Leads and directs the work activities of the team on a daily basis to ensure all relevant processes and procedures are followed and provides coaching and recommends corrective action as needed.
• Assists the DC manager to oversee all aspects of a single distribution center, including the service, physical assets, operating costs, and team members and leads in their absence.
• Assists in ensuring day-to-day that the DC is compliant with company operations, policies and procedures.
• Provides excellent leadership throughout the DC and works to ensure productivity and morale are maintained at a high level.
• Completes and accounts for payroll timekeeping, approves PTO for direct reports.
• Investigates product overages, shortages, damages, and completes appropriate documentation.
• Schedules and reschedules delivery appointments for all loads; accepts or declines loads based on direction.
• Provides detailed directions and instructions to properly route drivers.
• Takes check calls from drivers, ensuring that loads will deliver on time; approves outbound shipments; validates all load data prior to marking loads delivered.
• Adheres to all company safety policies and initiatives and monitors employees for adherence.
• Works closely with Purchasing, Sales, and Operations.
• Under the direction of Distribution Center Manager, completes all additional special tasks and other projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 3 years’ experience as a distribution center or warehouse operations with proven record of success with working knowledge of warehouse/yard/delivery options required.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time while analyzing workload to establish priorities with time sensitive deadlines required.
• Demonstrated computer skills and Microsoft Office required.
• Forklift operating experience required.
• Driver’s License required.
• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, subordinates, outside vendors and customers, both orally and in writing required.
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently required.
• Ability to work collaboratively with all areas of the job site required.
• Ability to learn, grow, and adapt to change required.

• Experience with order fulfillment and ERP systems preferred.
• Commercial Driver's License-Class A is preferred.
• Epicor BisTrack experience preferred.
• General knowledge of the transportation and lumber industry preferred.
• Minimum of one year of logistics experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education, logistics certification, and relevant experience preferred.
• 3 years’ experience in order management, production planning, scheduling, inventory control, manufacturing, or distribution operations in a multi-facility environment. APICS Certification.
