Distribution Center Manager manages the overall planning, organizing, and operations of a distribution center. Oversees all distribution functions, including order processing, picking, packaging, shipping, and receiving. Being a Distribution Center Manager monitors inventory levels to ensure sufficient levels to fulfill all orders. Balances workloads as needed to achieve production and delivery goals for each shift. Additionally, Distribution Center Manager utilizes software, data, and analytics to optimize operations, track production metrics, and anticipate and resolve problems. Provides the necessary equipment, tools, and training to staff to ensure safe, secure, and efficient operations. Complies with all OSHA and other regulations, policies, safety procedures, and documentation requirements. May evaluate and select transportation or freight services, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relations. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Responsibilities:
· Stages product on pallets, shrink wraps to prevent loss, and loads pallets on trucks.
· Ensures that the correct parts are placed on the correct truck.
· Keeps work area clean to avoid potential accidents and to allow for rapid loading.
· Pulls stock orders until time to load trucks as needed.
· Pulls large parts and stages to proper truck.
· Assists with processing other DC shuttles.
· Raising and lowering of dock plates, safeguarding with chain for dock doors, and to report any damage.
· Maintains cleanliness of warehouse by disposing of trash nightly and sweeping floors daily.
· Operates company equipment safely. Works in a safe manner following all safety procedures, rules and regulations.
· Complies with all applicable laws / regulations, as well as company policies / procedures.
· Must be able to work as a team and ability to get along and have good working relationship with other employees.
· Communicate effectively across all departments as needed.
· Performs all other duties as assigned by management.
Position Description:
-Stages, shrink wraps and loads product by trip number and store number as it is received from the packing and pulling areas of the stockroom.
-Prepares palletized loads for shipment by shrink-wrapping product and loads pallets onto trucks daily.
Position Performance Measures:
-On-time nightly departures
-Product must be received by customers without damage
-Performs all tasks in a safe and cautious manner.
Experience, Education, and Abilities:
-High School Diploma or equivalent work experience required with at least 6 months prior work experience
-Should have basic computer usage skills
-Forklift certification a plus
-Able to speak, hear and understand instructions and communicate in English
-Capable of recognizing and distinguishing letters and numbers (both visually and orally) and remembering their sequence
-Use of hands to handle and feel; reach with hands and arms
-Occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
-Able to bend or stoop to floor-level shelves and be able to reach shelves (eight feet) with use of stool or ladder when necessary
-Capable of lifting and moving merchandise of up to 60 lbs. without assistance or restrictions -Able to push/pull up to 300 lbs. using mechanical aids, such as hand trucks, barrel dollies, hydraulic lifts, etc.
-Able to stand and walk for entire work shift with no restrictions
-Must be able to get in and out of the back of truck with parts while using a ramp when necessary
-Work with or near moving mechanical parts, moderate to loud noise, outside weather conditions, and/or extreme temperatures
-Willingness to be trained on a fork truck/lift or other power equipment as required
-Ability to pass a drug screening and criminal background check
-Ability to work for entire scheduled shift, holidays, weekends and/or overtime if required
-Other duties as required by management
