Distribution Center DC Warehouse Supervisor- Suffolk, VA

Job Summary

Emser Tileand Natural Stone, a nationwide supplier of high-quality floor covering products servicing world-leading retailers, builders and contractors seeks an experienced DC/Warehouse Supervisor responsible for receiving, picking, quality assurance, inventory control, and shipping of finished goods through our Distribution Center in Suffolk Virginia.

The primary role of a DC Warehouse Supervisor is to a hands-on leader that will directly train, supervise, and evaluate DC hourly employees while ensuring a safe and clean work environment. The DC Warehouse Supervisor is also responsible for the efficient operations of the receiving, picking, and shipping departments through collaboration with scheduling, operations, and freight providers to ensure the on-time delivery of product to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision:

• Set priorities, work assignments and provides direction and feedback to all employees within area responsibility.
• Trains and develop Warehouse Associates.
• Conducts routine work audits and performance evaluations to contribute to employee growth and knowledge.
• Train, enforce and effectively communicate all company policies and procedures.
• Maintain safe warehouse practices and procedures throughout the facility by driving safety compliance.
• Build and drive department teamwork.

• Oversees receiving, picking, and shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
• Inspects unloading and loading operations to ensure compliance with established procedures.
• Ensure outbound shipments are prepared and shipped in accordance with company standards and schedules.
• Ensures inbound receipts are checked in, are accurate against Pos, and are put away timely and accurately.
• Oversee the timely loading of FTL shipments according to daily truck schedules.
• Oversee the planning and scheduling of LTL shipments to ensure on-time customer deliveries.
• Ensure accurate completion of shipping and receiving documents including obtaining required signatures/acknowledgements.
• Ensure timely communication of inventory issues (i.e., damaged goods, missing stock, etc.) to Inventory Control.
• Reports any service failures/missed shipments to DC Management.
• Is trained on and learns all processes performed by subordinates in detail to train, evaluate, and motivate employees.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must have experience working in a large, fast-paced, high-volume warehouse or distribution environment.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a hands-on supervisory or management role, directly training and supervising hourly employees.

• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook; JD Edwards experience a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (both verbal and written), Spanish speaking a plus.
• Above average interpersonal and communication skills
• High level of organization
• Must be highly self-motivated, self-directed and team oriented.
• Excellent Customer service skills.

Work Environment

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts; loud noise levels.
• Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
• Exposure to all weather conditions, including hot, cold, wet/dry weather
• Exposure to a wide range of temperatures (Indoors and Outdoors).
• Moving over and/or around obstacles on the ground and working near operating forklifts.

Physical requirements

• Standing/walking for long periods.
• May occasionally lift, carry, push, pull and/or move up to 65 pounds.

Reporting Relationships

• Typically reports directly to DC Operations Manager, and or DC Manager
• Directly supervises 10 – 20 hourly employees, and working with peer supervisors supervises, indirectly supervises additional hourly employees.
• Will be trained and rotated through all departments within the DC to include Receiving, Picking, Shipping, and Inventory Control.
• Will be rotated through shifts in the DC. There are currently a 1st and 2nd shift. A 3rd shift is likely within the next 1-3 years.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year

Experience:
