Distribution Center Manager manages the overall planning, organizing, and operations of a distribution center. Oversees all distribution functions, including order processing, picking, packaging, shipping, and receiving. Being a Distribution Center Manager monitors inventory levels to ensure sufficient levels to fulfill all orders. Balances workloads as needed to achieve production and delivery goals for each shift. Additionally, Distribution Center Manager utilizes software, data, and analytics to optimize operations, track production metrics, and anticipate and resolve problems. Provides the necessary equipment, tools, and training to staff to ensure safe, secure, and efficient operations. Complies with all OSHA and other regulations, policies, safety procedures, and documentation requirements. May evaluate and select transportation or freight services, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relations. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Distribution Center Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Distribution Center Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     What you will be doing

    Routes, Dispatches, and schedules loads for distribution to the store, utilizing personnel and equipment most efficiently.

    Ensures that merchandise is delivered in the best possible condition.

    • Coordinates with Warehouse personnel to ensure proper timing for delivery schedules.
    • Assigns CDL A Truck Drivers to loads ensuring compliance with Company and DOT guidelines.
    • Maintains good public relations with store management via telephone communications and store visits. Works with store personnel on special requests.
    • Ensures all drivers comply with Company, Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations to include driver service hours are accurate abd compliant.
    • Process weekly / monthly DOT mileage report.
    • Ensures compliance with Company and government rules and regulations by all department personnel.

    Main responsibilities

    • Processes store returns and returns to vendors using proper Company policies.
    • Coordinates with Inventory Control associates regarding slotting, product rotation and space allocation.
    • Conducts daily crew meetings to discuss safety, productivity, and accuracy.
    • Communicates with Transportation on the flow and receipt of backhauls.
    • Supervises scheduling of inbound load appointments.
    • Responsible for signing for, sorting and distributing inbound, overnight carrier, and mail service deliveries.
    • Walks warehouse daily, with Superintendent, to ensure that safety, security, sanitation and pest control codes, laws, and policies and government regulations are maintained.
    • Ensures the most economical and efficient use of equipment and personnel to accomplish assigned work.

    What we are searching for

    Previous experience and / or formal training or education in transportation, preferably with the Company or in the grocery industry.

    Class A CDL, preferred.

    • Possess thorough knowledge of material handling equipment and traffic management to include truck and rail deliveries.
    • Must have a good working knowledge of government regulations pertaining to transportation.
    • Possess good leadership skills and the ability to supervise the work of others. Must be able to motivate and work with and through others to achieve desired results.
    • Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written. Deal effectively with a wide variety of people both in person and over the telephone.
    • Must have good computer skills, proficient with Excel spreadsheets. Working knowledge of the onboard computer system helpful.
    • Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities.

    Possess the ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions.
