Distribution Center Manager manages the overall planning, organizing, and operations of a distribution center. Oversees all distribution functions, including order processing, picking, packaging, shipping, and receiving. Being a Distribution Center Manager monitors inventory levels to ensure sufficient levels to fulfill all orders. Balances workloads as needed to achieve production and delivery goals for each shift. Additionally, Distribution Center Manager utilizes software, data, and analytics to optimize operations, track production metrics, and anticipate and resolve problems. Provides the necessary equipment, tools, and training to staff to ensure safe, secure, and efficient operations. Complies with all OSHA and other regulations, policies, safety procedures, and documentation requirements. May evaluate and select transportation or freight services, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relations. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Distribution Center Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. This role requires astute leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to optimize building operations for efficiency and tenant satisfaction.

    Responsibilities:
    • Manage daily building operations, including maintenance, safety, and tenant satisfaction, while collaborating with logistics and supply chain teams.
    • Supervise a dedicated team responsible for maintenance, safety protocols, tenant interactions, and logistic coordination.
    • Collaborate with tenants, contractors, and internal teams for maintenance, repair needs, and supply chain efficiency.
    • Foster positive tenant relations by addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests while aligning with distribution demands.
    • Monitor building systems, utilities, and equipment, ensuring proper functionality, safety, and compliance.
    • Develop strategies for building operations enhancement, energy efficiency, sustainability, and supply chain integration.
    • Implement safety protocols, emergency response plans, and evacuation procedures for occupant safety, considering logistical needs.
    • Coordinate building inspections, permits, and compliance, aligning with distribution requirements and regulations.
    • Oversee vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure service quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely deliveries.
    • Manage the building budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities while allocating resources effectively for logistics support.
    • Analyze building data to identify trends, recommend improvements, and optimize performance in tandem with supply chain dynamics.
    • Cultivate a collaborative work environment among building staff, maintaining high safety standards, and logistic coordination.
    • Develop and enforce preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for building systems, considering supply chain requirements.
    • Maintain accurate records of building operations, maintenance, tenant interactions, and logistical activities.
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to building staff, emphasizing safety protocols and logistics integration.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to building management and logistics.
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, environmental standards, and supply chain demands.
    • Performs other assignments assigned by managers

    Qualifications:
    • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Facility Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. Additional education can be in lieu of experience.
    • 5 years of experience in building management, facility operations, or equivalent roles at a wholesale food distribution center or similar operations, with a strong focus on safety.
    • Certification in supply chain management, safety management, or related fields is a plus.
    • Proficient in Google Office Suite (Mail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.)
    • Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control software, and other relevant technology.
    • Strong knowledge of food distribution processes, inventory management, logistics, and safety regulations.
    • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance standards, including OSHA guidelines.
    • Knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and order fulfillment processes.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills with a focus on fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment with an emphasis on safety culture.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement effective solutions.
    • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Strong financial acumen and budget management skills, able to manage and negotiate with vendors effectively.
    • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions related to safety.
    • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • Bilingual in English/Chinese or English/Spanish is a plus.
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

    Physical Requirements:
    • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
    • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time.
    • Ability to work in an environment that may be wet and dry and with varying temperatures and noises.
    • Ability to use tools and equipment, including but not limited to knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.

    Working Conditions:
    This job is performed in a production environment that may have exposure to heat, noise, and other environmental factors associated with food production.

    Compensation:
    The pay range for this job is between $75,000 and $80,000 per year. This is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
