Job Goal:  The Somerville Center for Adult Learning Experiences (S.C.A.L.E.) anticipates an opening for the SCALE Distance Learning Coordinator position. The DLC is grant funded stipend position. Under the direction of the SCALE Director of Continuing Education, the SCALE Distance Learning Coordinator will serve as an integral member of the SCALE leadership team, providing advice, counsel, coaching, and digital integration support to program administrators, teachers, education and career advisors, and students. In addition, the DLC will serve as a resource to instructional staff to assist them in teaching in an online environment.

The Somerville Public School District is seeking applications from outstanding educational leaders for the position of Distance Learning Coordinator. Internal candidates must be committed to adult academic excellence and demonstrate digital integration instruction capability. In addition, this position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to train, coach, work collaboratively with administrators and staff, students, and the community-at-large, and invite participation by all in a learning community.   

• Experience supporting college and career-bound adult education students in a remote learning environment.
• Experience troubleshooting and working independently.
• Experience working one on one or small group learning activities.

Responsibilities:  

• Work collaboratively with Program Administrators and Education and Career advisors to strengthen remote student pathways leading to credential attainment.
• Works collaboratively with Program Administrators and the Director of Continuing Education, serving as an instructional coach to E.L.L. and A.B.E. departments around aligning instruction with the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education (C.C.R.S.A.E.) and integrating digital literacy into SCALE programming.
• Serve as the program coordinator of CISCO IT Academy training program for SCALE students working collaboratively with job training providers to design remote and hybrid program opportunities.
• Act as liaison with the Career and Technical Education (C.T.E.) program at Somerville High School to begin creating a long-term partnership and transition processes.
• Work with Program Administrators to identify instructional tools and materials to strengthen academic rigor and align career readiness content, including soft online skills, digital literacy, and assessments.  

• Consult and collaborate with staff around developing structures for remote and online learning pathways.
• Develop a monitoring/record system to track student engagement.
• Serves as an integral member of the HiSET, A.D.P., and GOAL program leadership team.
• Develop and oversee the implementation of a digital literacy competency library and student online learning options;
• Other related duties, as directed by SCALE program administrators and Assessors.
