Dispatcher, Sr. jobs in Vermont
Dispatcher, Sr. coordinates drivers and vehicles to convey freight or passengers to assigned destinations in a timely and efficient manner. Maintains contact with drivers to communicate updates, delays, or special instructions and relay delivery status to customers. Being a Dispatcher, Sr. records driver assignments, delivery time, and other transportation data in a computer database to track metrics. Ensures drivers are compliant with all DOT, state, local, and company regulations. Additionally, Dispatcher, Sr. requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Dispatcher, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Posting SummaryEnsure the safety of police personnel and the public by promptly and appropriately responding to calls for service. Prioritize calls, gather and relay information, remain aware of changing situations, communicate pertinent information effectively, notify additional resources as necessary utilizing understanding of procedures and policies. Determine priorities among simultaneous requests and messages. Actively engage in learning and practicing principles of social justice and inclusion, environmental sustainability and delivering great customer experience. Reports to the Deputy Police Chief of Administration.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)High school diploma and two years’ related experience required. Working knowledge of software applications used to support area operations, and familiarity with Internet resources required. Security clearance/background check required. NCIC and 911 certification required within 6 months of hire. Keyboarding, spelling and editing (grammar) skills required. Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English required. Effective communication skills including clear diction without impediments required. Ability to use computer and radio station required. Demonstrated ongoing commitment to workplace diversity, sustainability and delivering exceptional value and great experience to customers required.
Desirable QualificationsExperience with emergency decision making, using two-way radio system and receiving multiple phone calls, in a short period of time highly desirable.
