Dispatcher, Sr. coordinates drivers and vehicles to convey freight or passengers to assigned destinations in a timely and efficient manner. Maintains contact with drivers to communicate updates, delays, or special instructions and relay delivery status to customers. Being a Dispatcher, Sr. records driver assignments, delivery time, and other transportation data in a computer database to track metrics. Ensures drivers are compliant with all DOT, state, local, and company regulations. Additionally, Dispatcher, Sr. requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Dispatcher, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     Responsibilities:  
    • Assigns transportation services. This includes runs, vehicles, and standbys in the event of absent operators, increased service volume, or in order to minimize service disruptions as a result of traffic or vehicle malfunction, operator problems and/or emergency situations.
    • Maintains logs and daily check-ins and outs for operators.
    • Maintains two-way radio communication providing information on customers, cancellations, and directional assistance when necessary.
    • Monitors operators and trip statuses making adjustments as necessary to ensure on time performance.
    • Maintains scheduling and performance data.
    • Documents accurately and appropriately daily events related to service.
    • Communicates effectively with operations staff regarding schedules and passenger issues.
    • Maintains confidentiality.
    • Follows procedures regarding accidents, injuries, and safety issues.
    • Create an atmosphere of professionalism & mutual support among employees.
    • Must be able to handle multiple situations at once
    • Other duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient operations of the department.
    Qualifications:  
    • Must be at least 21 years old (for insurance purposes ONLY).
    • Must have a valid driver's license for the state of MI and clean driving record.
    • Must be able to pass a drug screen and a DOT physical.
    • High school diploma or equivalent. Years of qualified job history can be substituted.
    • Must be self-motivated and able to perform without constant or immediate supervision.
    • Excellent communication skills with ability to adapt to changing situations and listen to feedback.
    • A customer service mentality with attention to detail.
    • Strong commitment to safety.
    • Must be well organized.
    • Must have computer skills.
    • Data entry skills preferred.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to work on a team.
    • Ability to learn 10-codes and maintain proper radio etiquette.
    • Knowledge of Transdev Policy and Procedures preferred.
    Physical Requirements:  
    • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
    • Majority of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.
    • Majority of work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.
    • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
    • May be asked to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
