Dispatcher coordinates drivers and vehicles to convey freight or passengers to assigned destinations in a timely and efficient manner. Maintains contact with drivers to communicate updates, delays, or special instructions and relay delivery status to customers. Being a Dispatcher records driver assignments, delivery time, and other transportation data in a computer database to track metrics. Ensures drivers are compliant with all DOT, state, local, and company regulations. Additionally, Dispatcher requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Dispatcher works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Dispatcher typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. In this role, the Dispatcher will coordinate field activities and staff by delivering assignments, instructions, and alerts via the company’s communications network. You will also run various reports, collect time sheets and handle incoming calls and direct as appropriate. Bi-lingual English & Spanish required.
Successful candidates will possess a High School diploma (Associates or Bachelors preferred) and 3 years service dispatch experience (elevator/plumbing/HVAC experience preferred). You must have excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment and prioritize tasks. Previous experience with multi-line phone systems is also required.
