Dispatcher coordinates drivers and vehicles to convey freight or passengers to assigned destinations in a timely and efficient manner. Maintains contact with drivers to communicate updates, delays, or special instructions and relay delivery status to customers. Being a Dispatcher records driver assignments, delivery time, and other transportation data in a computer database to track metrics. Ensures drivers are compliant with all DOT, state, local, and company regulations. Additionally, Dispatcher requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Dispatcher works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Dispatcher typically requires 1-3 years of related experience.     Position: Dispatcher
    Location: Modesto, California
    Pay: $48,000.00 - $60,000.00 / Annual salary
    Hours Per Week: 40
    Shift: Monday – Friday | 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
    Job Duties and Responsibilities:


    • Dispatch and communicate with drivers for OTR & local temp-controlled trucks (up to 12 tractor/trailers) running the California Bay Area.
    • Coordinate freight consolidation by division working knowledge of the California Bay Area, general knowledge of the Northwest U.S.
    • Utilize TruckMate (TMW), PC miler systems (PCM) and People Net software.
    • Utilize Americold for storing all products.
    • Build and process delivery routes/trips, note appointment time/date on delivery receipts, schedule and enter delivery appointment information for freight, research orders, process driver paperwork, new customer set up and daily and weekend loads, as required.
    • Optimize loads, load management, and load efficiency.
    • Preparation of load card trip notes; include load instructions, temp setting, and special driver instruction.
    • High-level workload performed with urgency with quick responses and efficiency in all areas of communication.
    • Direct reports include CSR Dispatch Support Representatives and Drivers in the California Bay Area fleet. Facilitate the coaching for performance (C4P) according to the outlined responsibilities and delegate duties as needed.
    • Follow all published standard operating procedures designed to perform the work.
    • Adequate intake of inbound calls during and after hours for customer/driver resolution. Respond to voicemails with urgency.
    • Respond to driver needs via phone calls, text messaging, or other messaging platforms and apps during and after business hours (EFS checks, relay codes, reference numbers, driver dock issues, etc.)
    • Evaluate, recommend, and execute placement of loads to carriers through purchase orders.
    • Maintain detailed files for documentation and load sheets through the TMW and PCM systems.
    • Receive calls from carriers and work with warehouse workers/dispatchers to schedule appointments and problem resolution.
    • Receive inbound bill of ladings from warehouse workers and match them to freight bills.
    • Create freight bills for services rendered.

    Experience, Abilities and Qualities Required:


    • Reliable, committed with a strong sense of urgency.
    • Strong verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Highly motivated, with ability to work alone and in a team environment.
    • Able to provide positive and professional customer service, provide regular updates to other internal departments and customer.
    • Detail-oriented combined with strong organizational skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Windows based PC.
    • Ability to follow instructions, guidelines, and apply good judgment.
    • Intermediate to advanced math knowledge.
    • TruckMate experience a plus, but not necessary .
