Job Description and Duties
Under the direction of and reporting to the Staff Services Manager II in the Sacramento Legal Office, the Claims Staff Services Manager I supervises a staff of Associate Governmental Program Analysts (AGPAs i.e., District Claims Officers), Staff Services Analysts (SSAs), and other clerical staff. Overall responsibility for supervising, monitoring and balancing the workload of the District Claims Officers and other staff who handle all tort claims in the amount of $12,500 or less in Districts 2, 3 and 10 (or other Districts as operational needs require). District Claims Officers also provide legal support services to attorneys in defending the Department in tort liability claims and lawsuits over $12,500.
The Caltrans Legal Division is comprised of five offices statewide including its headquarters office near the State Capitol in Sacramento and branches in Oakland, Los Angeles, San Diego and Fresno. Working Conditions
Position located in Sacramento, Sacramento County.
While at their base of operation, employees will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial light. However, due to periodic problems with the heating and air conditioning, the building temperature may fluctuate. Will have to perform work duties in different court rooms throughout the state and therefore, this position does require travel.
This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule and is in Downtown Sacramento.
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
