Disaster Recovery Manager manages the design, implementation, and communication of business continuance and disaster recovery plans and processes that ensure the security and integrity of company data, databases, information systems, and technology. Conducts risk analysis to identify critical operations and systems that are core to continued business operations in the event of a disruption. Being an Disaster Recovery Manager monitors and tests the plans and back up systems. Manages the contracts with required vendors for off-site and other resources required for business continuation and recovery. Additionally, Disaster Recovery Manager develops and deploys training, documentation, and communication of disaster procedures to the organization. Develops service level recovery standards and agreements with vendors. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Disaster Recovery Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Disaster Recovery Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Responsible for identifying, removing, packing, transporting, or disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including lead-based paint, waste oil, fuel transmission fluid, radioactive materials, or contaminated soil. Specialized training and certification in hazardous materials handling or a confined entry permit are generally required. May operate earth moving equipment or trucks.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Safely operate hand and power tools, heavy machinery and equipment such as scrapers, vacuums, earth moving equipment, high-pressure sprayers, to remove, package, store or transport loads of waste materials.
    2. Record numbers of containers stored at disposal sites, specifying amounts or types of equipment or waste disposed.
    3. Maintain a safe working environment by monitoring safety procedures and equipment while carrying out tasks and work orders.
    4. Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures to ensure safety and quality work product.
    5. Knowledge of business principles and disposal procedures involved in waste disposal.
    6. Decontaminate equipment or sites to remove hazardous or toxic substances safely.
    7. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as Microsoft Word and Excel, recording information for documentation, and other processes and procedures.
    8. Prepare and maintain work records/reports of information such as employee time and wages, daily field tickets, or inspection results.
    9. Strong knowledge of relevant safety policies and procedures; apply safety policies/ procedures to promote a safe work environment for the protection of clients, employees, and the public.
    10. Interpret meaning of information to others;
    11. Attend staff meetings; collaborate with others to communicate with supervisory personnel.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 75 pounds. The employee will be exposed to extreme seasonal temperatures, both very hot and very cold. The employee will be exposed to contaminants, hazardous conditions, and hazardous equipment. The employee will be exposed to whole body vibration and sounds, with noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable at times. The employee will be exposed to cramped work space, awkward positions, and sometimes very confined spaces. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Employees will be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with overtime eligibility.

    Travel

    Travel is expected for this position. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel will be expected. The employee may travel extensively when the construction site is not close to the main office or when responsible for activities at two or more sites.

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • A valid state driver’s license with Class A CDL endorsement with no active violations within the previous 3 years required
    • HAZWOPER certification preferred
    • High School Diploma or GED, preferred but not required
    • Understanding of business principles and practices
    • Knowledge of materials, methods, equipment & tools involved in remediation services
    • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
    • Excellent oral communication skills
    • Problem solving and analytical skills
