    Job Description Summary
    The Associate Director of Disability Services advocates for the inclusion of students with disabilities and assists the university in maintaining compliance with federal disability statutes and university policies. The Associate Director meets with students and reviews medical documentation to determine reasonable accommodations and support services, advises students, provides case management services, and makes referrals to other resources. The position has a broad knowledge of different types of disabilities and medical conditions, accessibility standards and practices, and academic accommodations and adjustments, and serves as a resource on disability inclusion and accessibility to the university community.

    As part of the Disability Services team, the Associate Director participates in a variety of staff activities: 1) review periodically to update policies and procedures in accordance with changing standards and best practices; 2) participate in programming and outreach events on behalf of the department; 3) serve on interdepartmental working groups and initiatives; and, 4) perform other duties as assigned.

    Job Description

    Duties:
    The Associate Director plays a critical role in advocating for accessibility through interaction with students, faculty, staff, and colleagues in the Weingarten Center. Responsibilities include the review of documentation and determination of reasonable accommodations and auxiliary services. The Associate Director works individually with students to provide support and guidance and refers students to other resources as needed. This position plays a role in educating the university community about disability and accessibility, through dialogue with University faculty and staff and through presentations and outreach events. In collaboration with the Director, this position develops policies and procedures, assists with the administrative management and day-to-day activities, and conducts ongoing assessment and evaluation of disability programs and services. Duties will include:

    Review and evaluate medical documentation and determine eligibility for the provision of reasonable accommodations and auxiliary services for students with disabilities.

    Provide ongoing support to students with disabilities through individual appointments.

    Maintain accurate, confidential student records through the office's database.

    Collaborate with housing, dining, and transportation to ensure that barriers are eliminated to ensure inclusion and accessibility for students.

    Represent Disability Services and the Weingarten Center through presentations and outreach events.

    Qualifications:
    Master's Degree in Psychology, Rehabilitation, Education or related field with emphasis on assessment and the provision of disability services, plus 3-5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge in the areas of post-secondary disability accommodations and auxiliary services; experience in providing disability services to college students, including professional experience reviewing psycho-educational documentation; knowledge of the learning context of highly selective post-secondary institutions strongly preferred. Excellent organization, written, verbal and electronic communication skills; cultural competency and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
