Director of International Education leads and directs all aspects of the institution's international programs. Oversees programs, activities, faculty affairs, and academic support services. Being a Director of International Education develops and implements strategies to attract and retain students and faculty. Oversees the operations of the study abroad and foreign exchange programs, the international admissions process, and English language programs. Additionally, Director of International Education ensures that the curriculum remains current and is in compliance with accreditation standards. Monitors the documentation and visa application processes. Oversees the departmental budget and management of expenditures throughout the year. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Director of International Education typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Darling is seeking a Director - International Tax to join the corporate Tax Department at its world headquarters. This critical department provides tax compliance, accounting guidance and strategic tax planning for all businesses.

    The role will have a high level of responsibility initiating, leading and implementing projects and processes related to the Company's international structure. In addition, they will work closely with the Senior Director - International Tax and Chief Tax Officer as well as outside tax advisors in developing and implementing projects which will cover a wide array of tax matters including: tax reporting processes (e.g., accounting for income taxes, Sarbanes-Oxley, tax packages, etc.), foreign tax credits, subpart F, global intangible low-taxed income, foreign derived intangible income, business and legal entity acquisitions/restructurings, and transfer pricing. This position will have a high degree of exposure with senior management at the corporate headquarters as well as business and finance leaders around the world.

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities

    • International aspects of the quarterly and year-end tax provision.
      • Prepare and/or review computations and reconciliations related to deferred income taxes, income tax payable, income tax expense and other tax related accounts.
      • Coordinate and assess uncertain tax positions globally.
      • Review foreign tax provision packages.
      • Determine U.S. federal income tax and book-tax implications of foreign operations.
      • Prepare technical memos documenting the Company's tax accounting position/treatment of tax accounting matters.
      • Provide income tax accounting support for acquisitions and divestitures.
    • M&A planning/structuring and post-close tax integration of acquired businesses.
    • Advise business units, Treasury, Legal, Accounting, and other corporate functions regarding tax implications of business initiatives and programs.
    • Cash repatriation analysis and planning.
    • Global transfer pricing documentation & internal communication regarding transfer pricing policies.
    • E&P, Subpart F, global intangible low-taxed income and foreign tax credit planning
    • Structuring and planning for the creation or reorganization of international entities
    • Tax research and analysis of evolving areas of tax law
    • Manage/monitor international compliance (U.S. and foreign country)
    • Tax audits - international aspects of IRS audits and manage/monitor foreign country audits.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting with CPA (with active license) or JD LLM (with active license) or MST.
    • Minimum 15 years international tax reporting, planning, transfer pricing and M&A experience, must include:
      • At least 8 years at a Big 4 public accounting firm or U.S. based multi-national publicly traded corporation
      • At least 5 years of tax accounting (U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS) experience.
      • Strong project management skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • A solid international tax background in order to spot, analyze and address tax technical issues and identify tax opportunities and think strategically given business transactions, plans and strategies of the Company.
    • Experience working in ERP and financial accounting systems.
    • Proven ability to implement various international tax initiatives.
    • Strong communications skills with the ability to translate complex tax issues and concepts into simple business terms for senior management and non-tax professionals.
    • Energetic and high sense of urgency while working on projects.
    • A person who will roll up his or her sleeves and get into the details but have the ability to step out of the details to understand the 'big picture' as well.

    Physical Demands

    • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, and kneel
    • Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs.
    • Long periods spent sitting at desk in front of computer screen.
    • Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

    Work Environment

    Job functions will be carried out in an office environment. Domestic and International travel will be required periodically.
