Director - Stage, Motion Pictures, Television interprets plays and scripts for production. Auditions and identifies performers for roles in specific productions and conducts rehearsals. Being a Director - Stage, Motion Pictures, Television may require an associate's degree or its equivalent and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Director - Stage, Motion Pictures, Television relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. This position requires a background in staging material for live public performances. Ideally this candidate will have training and education in theater and will have worked with playwrights on developing new plays for the stage.
The stage director will have a stage manager to assist them in this process and will be working with a costume designer and a sound designer to create an evening of live theater called “Stories of CREED in Action,” which will present original works created by clients of Father Joe’s Villages. These plays will have been developed during two playwriting residencies offered in collaboration with Playwrights Project at Father Joe’s Villages. The Stage Director will report to the Project Director of Stories of CREED in Action, and will also work alongside the Humanities Advisor for the project.
This is a temporary position that should not exceed 35 hours total, with a pay rate of $30/hour.
