Digital Collection Librarian maintains a library's digital collection of books, serials, documents, audiovisuals, or other materials, and assists groups and individuals in locating, obtaining and using materials. Trains others in the creation or preservation of digital resources and the use of the library's digital system(s). Being a Digital Collection Librarian is responsible for the library's open source projects and procures licenses for digital content. Interacts with IT staff in selecting/developing, implementing and maintaining the library's technical infrastructure. Additionally, Digital Collection Librarian requires a master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited school in a related field. Typically reports to a director. The Digital Collection Librarian manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Digital Collection Librarian typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. The Collection Development Librarian provides leadership in the areas of collections, technical services, and archives. Major responsibilities include the selection, evaluation, maintenance, and promotion of the Giovale Library’s collections based on data analysis, knowledge of university curricula, programs, research needs, and awareness of emerging trends in scholarly communication and publishing. Other responsibilities include the acquisition and cataloging of materials, management of the serials collection, and coordination of the thesis submission process. The Collection Development Librarian manages the Colleges Archives and Institutional Repository. This position supports student success by developing and maintaining a library collection that supports the college curriculum.
