Job Summary
The Diet Clerk works closely with Nutrition Services Staff to provide appropriate meals to patients following the prescribed diet order placed by their physician and the information provided by the dietitians. Primary responsibilities include providing nutrition care to individual patients, in accordance with physician orders, Joint Commission standards, Health System and departmental policies. Acts as a liaison between patients and Nutrition Services and provides functional guidance to Dietary Hostesses as appropriate. Is knowledgeable about general and specific dietary limitations and seeks advice when there are questions. The Diet Clerk fulfills these duties to ensure continuity and quality of care, which fosters all patients and their families' best interests and well-being.
The Diet Clerk will provide support and assistance to the tray line as needed. (ie: build trays and stocking)
Job Requirements
a. Minimum Education Requirement : High School or GED preferred.
b. Minimum Experience Requirement : Strong communication skills to communicate effectively with patients/families, physicians, and other Mon Heath System employees. Previous hospital experience in diet office operations and basic computer skills preferred.
c. Minimum License Requirement : Must obtain Temporary Food Handlers Card within first week of hire and Food Handlers Card issued by Monongalia County within 30 days of hire.

Light Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to10 lbs with a maximum lifting of 25 lbs.
