Diet Clerk serves meals to patients and assists in various processes related to the preparation and delivery of meals. Sets up trays and utensils according to patient requirements. Being a Diet Clerk assists with food preparation tasks. Completes general cleaning, maintenance, and sanitation of work area. Additionally, Diet Clerk typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Diet Clerk possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. The position will perform a wide variety of dietary duties, food preparation, sanitation, and customer service. Possess and demonstrate extensive skill and knowledge of food safety and infection prevention. Utilize knowledge of nutritional diet modification in meal preparation, demonstrate accurate portion control and use garnishes effectively. Utilize electronic cash register and make change.
Cooks are the lead person in the absence of the Food Service Director or Registered Dietician. When both cooks are present, the AM Cook is in charge until their shift is over and then the PM Cook will take over. Both cooks will report to the Food Service Director or Registered Dietician on their next shift. If the matter needs immediate attention, the Food Service Director or Registered Dietician will be contacted immediately.
Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Will be expected to work varying hours including holidays, and weekends.
