Diesel Mechanic performs inspection, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of diesel engines. Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems. Being a Diesel Mechanic utilizes computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes. Replaces and/or refurbishes parts. Additionally, Diesel Mechanic maintains maintenance logs according to requirements. Ensures services provided follow all quality standards and safety procedures. May perform DOT annual inspections on vehicles. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically requires a Certificate in Automotive & Diesel Technology. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Diesel Mechanic works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Vorst paving is looking for a shop mechanic to work on our vehicles. Previous experience and DOT certified is a plus. Cutting and welding is also a plus.
Employee would work on diesel pickup trucks, diesel dump trucks, diesel semi trucks, trailers, skid loaders, rollers, and paving machines. Employee would perform oil changes, brake jobs, electrical maintenance, trouble shooting and simple maintenance procedures. Employee would also be requested to do annual inspections of trucks and trailers required by DOT.
Company supplies tools. Hours are 8 AM – 5 PM M-F. Saturdays as needed.
