Diesel Mechanic performs inspection, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of diesel engines. Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems. Being a Diesel Mechanic utilizes computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes. Replaces and/or refurbishes parts. Additionally, Diesel Mechanic maintains maintenance logs according to requirements. Ensures services provided follow all quality standards and safety procedures. May perform DOT annual inspections on vehicles. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically requires a Certificate in Automotive & Diesel Technology. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Diesel Mechanic works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     Acadian Ambulance Service has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Mechanic to work in our Ocean Springs, MS shop.  The incumbent will perform troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance on our ambulance vehicles. 

    Duties include but not limited to:

    • Inspect and repair company vehicles
    • Preventive Maintenance on ambulance fleet and other company vehicles.
    • Write work tickets
    • Mechanical related repairs
    • Work with shop employees and supervisors
    • Electrical repairs
    • Drive vehicles

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Clean driving record.
    • Current driver’s license (Class-D Required)
    • On-the-job training with two to three years of mechanical experience; related training by G.M. or other schools (trade or otherwise).
    • Mechanical knowledge; reading; writing; speaking; hand tool use; specialized tool use.
    • Have basic hand tools.
