POSITION SUMMARY:

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for the operation of X-ray, fluoroscopy, CT Scan, C-Arm, and bone Density equipment by taking correct and accurate images of designated portions of the body.

SCHEDULE:

• 32 - 40 hours per week. Participates in night and weekend call rotation.
• Schedule will vary with the needs of the department.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS:

• Present information and respond to questions from physicians, patients/residents, family members and other members of the health care team.
• Takes x-rays /CT scan of various parts of the body to assist medical officers in detection of foreign bodies and diagnosis of diseases and injury.
• Transports patients as necessary to the radiology department and preparing them for exams.
• Determines the most suitable anatomical position to Image of the body and positions patient.
• Evaluates Images for technical quality and calculates exposure factors.
• Administers oral dyes.
• Protects patient from unnecessary radiation to unaffected areas with the use of lead protectors.
• Practices aseptic techniques as necessary.
• Makes standard precaution decisions and use isolation techniques, when required.
• Adjust immobilization devices to prevent voluntary movements of patient.
• Sets up and operates stationary or mobile equipment.
• Processes CR Imaging plates in accordance with equipment procedures, limiting repeat exposure.
• Maintain CR Imaging Plates and processing equipment.
• Uses equipment to minimize hazards of shocks, burns and extraneous radiation to patients and personnel.
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as situations require to maintain Infection Control standards set by the Hospital.
