Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor supervises and coordinates the activities of staff in a diagnostic imaging department such as nuclear medicine, MRI, radiology, computer-assisted tomography or ultrasound. Being a Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree, certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. GENERAL SUMMARY:
Summary:
Works under the direction of the Senior Manager, Administrative Director, and Medical Directors for Diagnostic Imaging services, to provide leadership and supervision for all clerical and imaging modalities within the Diagnostic Imaging Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Patient Care - Regulatory Guidelines - Ensure the Diagnostic Imaging Department is operating within the appropriate regulatory standards and accreditation requirements at all times to ensure the safety of our staff and patients.
2. Works directly with nursing and allied health staff to assure optimal patient care and achievement of targeted patient satisfaction scores. Assure smooth, efficient and timely flow of all treatments and services, achieving targeted patient satisfaction scores.
3. Ensure that the department is adequately staffed with competent personnel according to Bayhealth budgetary guidelines and to meet the needs of our patients. Monitor staffing patterns and makes recommendations for change as needed.
4. Department Operations - Supervises daily operations to assure all procedures are completed in a safe and competent manner. Submit written reports weekly to the Sr. Manager to include equipment issues, personnel issues, budgetary concerns and other department related issues. Other reports and material will be submitted as requested.
5. Supervises care and maintenance of equipment, assuring safe operating conditions and all Bayhealth policies are met
6. Personnel Management - Conducts annual performance appraisals for all staff and ensures all staff works towards identified goals and all clinical competencies are completed as required.
7. Arranges work for the most effective use of resources assuring all priorities are met.
8. Tracks and assures that all staff maintains required licensures, certifications and attends all mandatory education sessions
9. Participates in conflict resolution; develops and implements strategies to ensure appropriate performance of all staff members. Performs employee counseling as needed, makes recommendations regarding serious violations of hospital policy by staff members and develops corrective plan of actions as required
10. Conducts regular staff meetings and encourages staff participation and involvement in departmental activities; utilizes strategies that provide for staff recognition and reinforcement of ideas to improve patient care and cost reduction; documents meetings and circulates assuring all staff is informed
11. Assures all records are maintained according to regulatory guidelines.
12. Financial performance - Responsible for the accurate development of the Annual Operational and Capitol Budget, by required deadline. Monitors monthly budgets and assesses department operations; provides documentation to account for variances, assuring budget targets are achieved
13. Assures department operates within budget; reviews and authorizes all departmental operating costs, assuring budget targets are achieved. Involves staff in identifying and implementing cost containment measures with documentation in meeting minutes or other appropriate format, assuring budget targets are achieved
14. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 5 years of healthcare supervisory experience in a Radiology setting. Preferred: Experience in a multi-site health system.
