  • The Native Village of Eklutna (NVE) is seeking qualified applicants for the following position.
    Title: Youth Group Coordinator
    Department: Administration
    Reports to: Tribal Administrator or designee
    Wage: $20 per hour, with a 90-day probationary period.

    Position Summary:
    The Eklutna Youth Group Coordinator has the awesome opportunity to work with and help shape
    tomorrow’s leaders by guiding today’s youth in an after-school program. The Youth Group
    Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the Tribal Administrator or her designee.

    The Youth Group Coordinator is responsible for:
    • Ensuring the youth in their care are safe while participating in activities.
    • Demonstrating through their own actions the values of Athabascan natives.
    • Developing and implementing culturally appropriate and enhanced programs, workshops, and
    other activities designed to help young people develop life skills, build character, and give back
    to their village.
    • Coordinate volunteer opportunities for youth, such as food drives, clothing drives, helping
    elders, or other ways of giving back to the community.
    • Organizing recreational activities such as Native Youth Olympics, field trips to the Fab Labs,
    birthday parties, or other events for children and teenagers.
    • Maintaining records of youth participation, attendance, and other relevant data.
    The Youth Group Coordinator will portray professional behavior working with school-age tribal
    members and all school-age children in the Village of Eklutna, in-house programs, outside agencies, and
    other Native organizations. The Youth Group Coordinator and all Eklutna employees are dedicated to the
    mission: To empower Idlughet Qayeht’ana (Eklutna Village Dena’ina) by promoting the history, culture,
    and identity of our sovereign nation and to assist in the education and well-being of our Tribe.” Interested

    Minimum Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Two (2) years of experience working with youth.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of youth development.
    • A willing and positive attitude toward working with various age groups
    Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the socio-cultural needs of the Alaska Native
    and American Indian community.
    • Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory report from a state and
    federal background check.
    • Workplace Environment
    Place of employment to be located at 26339 Eklutna Village Road, Chugiak, Alaska 99567.
    Work hours are 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Mondays are considered
    planning days for the Youth Group Coordinator. Tuesday – Friday are days for interaction
    with the youth. Periodically, other hours may be necessary to accommodate special events,
    spring break, or Anchorage/Mat-Su school calendar off days.

    Preference Policy 6.120, CITC maintains preference in all phases of employment for Alaska

    household members for Native families, which includes foster or traditionally adopted Native
