MUSEUM ASSOCIATE
The Delaware Art Museum is searching for a part-time Museum Associate with outstanding customer service skills to help the Museum provide engaging and friendly visitor experiences at the Museum’s front desk and inside the Museum Store. The hours, while generally up to 20 per week, will vary during the Museum’s public open hours (Wed-Sun 10am – 4pm, Thurs eve 4-8pm) and will include some events outside normal business hours and Thursday evenings. Weekend hours will be required. The Museum is a wonderful and active place to work and maintains 24-hour security onsite. Associates will be trained in guest services, POS systems, and the Museum’s collections and exhibitions.
Daily duties include:
· Greet and engage visitors, answering questions about the Museum, collections, history, and merchandise;
· Process any onsite registrations or ticket sales for Museum events or programs;
· Assist in increasing the Museums memberships;
· Interact with guests at the front desk or in the store and finalize their sales;
· Operate cash register and maintain POS system;
· Answer phone inquiries;
· Receive incoming merchandise assist with annual and quarterly inventory;
· Assist in maintaining a professional and inviting workspace;
· Maintain operation of store and desk including opening and closing practices;
· Provide outstanding customer service;
· Be able to handle problems and emergencies in a professional manner.
We are seeking enthusiastic candidates with knowledge and/or experience in:
· Retail sales;
· Technology savvy;
· General office skills;
· Strong attention to detail, and
· A passion for the arts and/or theater experience preferred.
