    Position Responsibilities: The Development Associate reports to the Chief Development Officer and plays a key role in increasing funding for AgeSpan via foundation, government, and corporate relationships to support older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers. This position identifies, cultivates, and solicits gifts from foundation, corporate, and governmental prospects and works with interdisciplinary teams to prepare requests for funding and associated documentation and reports.

    Essential Functions:

    • Become a knowledgeable ambassador of AgeSpan's portfolio of programs, with understanding of relevant issues related to the funding, policy, workforce, and the people we serve
    • Work with the departments across the agency to identify programs and services needed by our communities, and then collectively determine strategies for securing resources to implement them
    • Lead the process for researching funding opportunities/RFPs as well as analysis of which to move forward; assessing opportunities from corporate, federal, state, and foundation sources
    • Manage and execute grant writing processes across the agency
    • Work collaboratively with departments to gather relevant subject matter expertise that translates into written content that is precise and responsive to funding opportunities
    • Partner with program leads/finance on program budgets
    • Build the grant infrastructure that establishes a library of grant writing and data resources, along with concept ideas
    • Ensure compliance with grantor requirements
    • Manage reporting and evaluation requirements of funded programs
    • Steward corporate and foundation gifts through individual meetings and written impact reports
    • Collaborate with external community partners and internal teams to help develop new ideas for innovative programs that meet the needs of our clients
    • Keep current with trends in the foundation community by using the web and other database listings, noting grant opportunities, and attending foundation webinars/information sessions.
    • Formulate and communicate the annual foundation plan/goals with a variety of internal stakeholders.
    • Partner with development team on other philanthropic activities including individual solicitations and special events as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Ability to work as part of an integrated team, as well as independently
    • Persuasive writer with the ability to grasp the context surrounding an issue and translate it into a compelling story, as well as analyze and effectively communicate complex ideas to external audiences
    • 2-5 years' experience in a professional setting, preferably in development, experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including skills in Excel and PowerPoint
    • Demonstrated experience with project management and experience managing multiple projects with concurrent deadlines
    • Experience communicating program information related to health and human services, public health, social work, etc.
    • A track record of using an analytic approach to building processes and systems, experience using technology to track workflows, resources, and programs
    • A conscientious, friendly, and professional approach to relationship building, both internally and with outside stakeholders
