    Position Summary:

    We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our growing team. The Grants and Development Manager is primarily responsible for the management and oversight of grants and unrestricted individual giving which includes securing funding for general operating support, special programs and community built exhibits. The Grants and Development Manager will utilize personal discretion and independent judgement to establish and implement a fundraising plan for income producing grants, donor relations, and sponsorship activities that will generate short and long-term support for operations and capital needs.


    Duties & Responsibilities:


    60% Grants Management

    • Identify grant opportunities to pursue, draft grant proposals and prepare all related materials needed for submission
    • Write and submit clear, structured and persuasive grants proposals
    • Secure cash sponsorships for museum programs, exhibits and operations through written proposals, grants, presentations and face to face meetings as required
    • Manage and create the annual grants calendar, submit grants budgets, proposals and reports working collaboratively with all departments to track outcomes using GrantHub software

    20% Development

    • Prepare a solicitation strategy and solicit grant and foundation support
    • Foster and maintain strong relationships with foundation and individual donors, creating opportunities for the museum’s growth within the community
    • Facilitate annual appeal campaign to donors and members
    • Serve alongside the Development Director and Vice President of Development as a staff representative for community events
    • Contribute to cross departmental meetings

    20% Manage and oversee administrative needs

    Manage grant support documents and all grant reporting

    • Facilitate mailings, invoices a, thank you notes, and other forms of donor/corporate communication
    • Maintain calendar of grant submission dates and ensure grant funds are being tracked accurately for reporting purposes
    • Manage and work closely with the Development team and Leadership to facilitate membership drives and other forms of corporate communication including For the Kids Benefit sponsorships
    • Manage corporate donor related activities including free days, VIP exhibit openings and other special events
    • Supports the planning, coordination and execution of events such as Pumpkins with a Purpose, For The Kids Benefit and other special events or exhibits

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    • Minimum- 3 yrs. experience in grants writing and development
    • Excellent computer skills required, including demonstrated experience with donor or customer relations management software and Microsoft Office programs
    • Strong analytical ability to interpret data and reports

    • Proficient grant writing skills
    • Previous experience in leading the development of grant funded proposals
    • Excellent organization and attention to detail
    • Self-motivated, works independently and collaboratively on projects across the Museum
    • Efficient in planning and executing work effort to meet deadlines
    • Able to handle confidential information with integrity
    • Establish and nurture professional relationships with colleagues
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to analyze and track data to improve fundraising performance
    • Cultivate and grow donor and corporate relationships
    • Effectively communicate to build new relationships and share OCM mission

    Job type/Physical requirements

    • This is a full time hourly position located in Omaha, Nebraska
    • Work is primarily conducted M-F at Omaha Children’s Museum with some flexibility
    • Some evenings and weekend events required
    • Includes a competitive benefits package

    • Daily use of computers, phones and other equipment in an office environment
    • Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull, bend, stoop no more than 25 lbs.
