Design Engineer designs, develops, and enhances new and existing products/product lines. Evaluates and recommends specifications and ensures products meet the technical and functional requirements. Being a Design Engineer recommends and follows reliable, efficient, and cost-effective procedures. Performs feasibility, functional, and quality testing of designs. Additionally, Design Engineer works with other members of the engineering staff to ensure project milestones are met and that projects are completed according to established timelines. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Design Engineer work is closely managed. BSME or BSAE with minimum 5 years experience in design and/or engineering. Requires skills in product design, stress analysis and strength materials. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must have good project management and organizational skills. Must have strong PC skills and experience with 3D-CAD, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Physical/Mental Requirements Needed to Perform the Essential Functions of the Position:
Normal standing, bending, walking, and lifting in an office environment. Must be able to sit and work at a CAD station for several hours per day. Must be capable of doing light assembly work in engineering lab occasionally.
