Description

Under the supervision of the Dental Director a Dentist performs general clinical dentistry procedures such as exams, direct and indirect restorative work, tooth extractions and any other dental procedures. All procedures will be in compliance with the dental practice.  A staff dentist may also be required to serve as the site director for all dental care delivery services at a particular site.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Provide dental services and render treatment to patients who present themselves or who are presented to the Community Health Center for treatment, as allowed by Kansas State Law.

1. Provide support services to staff of the Health Center, including, but not limited to, consultations with clinical staff and administrative consultations with the Chief Executive Officer regarding dental/oral health matters.
2. Participate and support the elements of the operation of the Community Health Center, including the supervision of one or more dental assistants, clinic support staff, and dental hygienists employed by the Community Health Center.
3. Assure that patient care and confidentiality protocols meet PHS guidelines
4. Provide patients with health education as needed.
5. Assure site compliance with all dental regulations.
6. Insure timely transfer of patient/other records and documents.
7. Meet Genesis Family Health productivity guidelines.
8. Maintain current, complete, and appropriate documentation of all patient care, treatment, and related matters as required by law and Genesis Family Health regulation.
9. Conduct peer review and other activities as required by PHS guideline.
10. Maintain required continuing education for licensure.
11. Other duties as from time to time may be assigned or required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Graduation from an accredited school of dentistry required.
• Current licensure as a Dentist in the State of Kansas.
• Previous dental office experience preferred.
• Understands ethics of confidentiality.
• Previous computer experience or training preferred.
• CPR certification required (must be obtained within 30 days of employment).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Position requires sufficient hearing level to effectively communicate with people directly or by telephone.
• Moderate physical activity. Requires handling average-weight objects up to 15-20 pounds, assisting with patients and standing and/or walking for most of the day.
• Work involves considerable exposure to elements such as unpleasant odor and noises.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to maintain sufficient visual acuity to read, write and operate equipment.
