Dentist examines and treats diseases and injuries of teeth and gums. Performs preventative and maintenance dentistry and educates the patient in proper tooth and gum care. Being a Dentist recommends braces or surgery to correct any malformations. Requires a doctorate degree in dentistry, either a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited school. Additionally, Dentist requires a state licensed to practice. Typically reports to a top management. Dentist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Duties:
- Perform dental hygiene procedures such as teeth cleaning, scaling, and polishing
- Take dental x-rays with digital sensor
- Conduct oral cancer screenings
- Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as needed
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide oral health instructions
- Maintain accurate patient records using Dentrix
Qualifications:
- Valid dental hygiene license in MS
- Proficiency in using dental software systems such as Epic, Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or other medical coding systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate patient records
- Ability to work well in a team environment
