    Since 1975 Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) has been an essential part of the Kansas City metro. Our mission is to improve the lives of those impacted by sexual abuse and assault, and to prevent sexual violence in our community. We are seeking a Grants Manager who will play a lead role in the development and management of public and private grant funding to support MOCSA’s mission and strategic goals. This position requires strong organizational and time management skills; ability to work as part of a team as well as independently; and demonstrated track record of accuracy, quality and reliability.

    SUMMARY

    This position is responsible for writing, submitting, and reporting of government grants and some private grants, in collaboration with MOCSA’s Development and Administrative teams.


    JOB OBJECTIVES


    I. Grant Development

    a. Research public and private funding opportunities including federal, regional, state, and local grant sources.

    b. Collaborates with senior management team and program staff to locate revenue sources that match identified agency needs and supports the strategic plan objectives.

    c. Collaborates with program departments, finance, and administration staff to prepare proposals. Convene and lead proposal discussions and coordinate task assignment. Collaborate with finance and accounting staff to prepare, review, and qualify budgets.

    d. Writes and submits government grant applications and contributes to private grant projects as needed. Develops, writes, edits, and revises material in accordance with the needs of each funding source. Reviews drafted content from other program staff and/or contractors. Reviews project budgets and budget narratives. Collect and organize all attachments, and submit content in grant portals and printed applications as applicable.

    e. Process and accept grant award contracts and project revisions for grant awards (renewal and new). Includes modifying project scopes, narratives, and service projections to align with funding levels. Aids in preparing kickoff meeting materials for grant staff.


    II. Grant Management

    a. Serves as the Project Director for government grant projects as assigned. Manage grant activities and progress reporting.

    b. Collaborates with the Vice President of Grants & Compliance to develop protocols for consistent outcome and evaluation procedures and monitors the process.

    c. Develops, cultivates, and maintains relationships with grant program officers, grantors, and/or board members from public and private funders. Communicate through telephone, written, and face-to-face inquiries with funding sources, as well as site visits and compliance reviews.


    III. Grant Compliance & Reporting

    a. Creates and maintains grants management tracking system and procedures to ensure interdepartmental work. Use system to track prospects, application and reporting timelines, submissions, and award status. Inputs information into donor database to track grant activity. Assist in organizing and maintaining accurate computer shared drive folders and hard copies in grant files.

    b. Assistance in ensuring agency meets all grant requirements at the time of proposal submission, for public/private funding sources including federal, state, county, and city.

    c. Collaborates with project directors and staff to ensure grant goals and objectives are being achieved for reporting purposes. Creates and generates reports for evaluation, forecasting, development, outreach, and grant development. Utilizing current research and background sources to support grant competitiveness and accuracy. Serves as an agency resource for statistics and data related to sexual violence.

    d. Prepare and submit reports to funding sources when due. Prepare internal progress reports.

    e. Assist in document filing, record retention, and record management for online and paper documentation for private and government grants.


    IV. Supervision and Leadership

    a. Train and supervise staff grant writer(s), interns and volunteers.

    b. Hire, plan, manage, review and critique the work of external grant writers developing proposals for the agency, as necessary.

    c. Provide leadership and assistance with organizational committees and projects.

    d. Maintain working relationships with other agency staff to ensure strong collaboration around data collection and reporting activities.


    The responsibilities described represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to do all assigned responsibilities. Grant funds may only be used for the provision of approved activities.


    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s Degree and three years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience writing state or federal grants, and knowledge of program evaluation and compliance. The position requires a proficient level experience with office computer systems including MS Office Suite, technical writing and the ability to coordinate overlapping projects and deadlines.


    Preferred Qualifications

    Master’s Degree, experience writing federal grants, compliance, and familiarity with the issue of sexual violence

    WORK HOURS

    This is a full-time position; business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. MOCSA offers flexible scheduling with a hybrid work setting.


    TRAVEL

    Occasional travel throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area to perform grant coordination duties and participation in agency sponsored events.
