Decision Support Project Specialist provides technical guidance and solutions to user groups working with decision support software and data tools. Analyzes user requirements and evaluates functionality and configuration options available for existing and new software. Being a Decision Support Project Specialist delivers user training and coaching to facilitate problem solving and decision making using hardware, software, datamarts, and data warehouses. Plans, coordinates and monitors projects to prepare, test, and deploy decision support tools, reports, dashboards and models to users. Additionally, Decision Support Project Specialist troubleshoots and resolves problems. May have specialized knowledge of a particular software product tool or module that is utilized. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Decision Support Project Specialist is a specialist on complex technical and business matters. Grant Writer and Project Support Specialist - Vernal, UT

    This position is with Utah State University's Bingham Research Center at the USU Vernal campus. Staff at the Bingham Center conduct a variety of environmental and natural science research projects. The successful applicant will work with Bingham Center scientists and technical staff to prepare proposals for research funding and draft other research documents. The position also involves general project support, including website maintenance, data management, and other tasks as assigned.

     

    This is a part-time/hourly position. The hourly wage will depend on experience, with a minimum of $20 per hour. The hours are flexible, and may range from 15-29 hours per week.

    Responsibilities

    The successful applicant will carry out the following duties:

    • Gain a general understanding of the work performed at the Bingham Center
    • Work with scientific staff to write research grant proposals.
    • Assist scientific staff in preparation of research reports and papers.
    • Coordinate research activities
    • Web maintenance
    • Management of databases
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Technical writing experience
    • Competence with basic business software (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with scientific research and scientific writing
    • Competence with database software (SQL, Access, etc.)
    • Experience with Microsoft productivity software
    • Coding experience (especially Python)
    • Web development experience
