Job Summary
The Clinical Analyst within the decision support team utilizes their strong analytical, computer, and communication skills in order to adequately perform as a consultant and liaison at the Executive level to other healthcare providers, Administration, management, auditors, consultants, and other professionals. The primary responsibility is to design and support decision support software systems in order to meet or exceed SRH’s high standards of quality of care. The clinical analyst will use these software programs to complete clinical outcome statistical analyses, case mix analyses, service line analyses, managed care reimbursement analyses, cost accounting analyses, assisting with preparation of annual operating plan and financial proformas, benchmarking data, etc. The decision support team clinical analyst completes, analyzes, interprets, provides and facilitates the use of this data by routinely presenting proposals and recommendations to administration and management. Essential Functions
Assisting with preparation of annual operating plan. Accurately develops and prepares meaningful analyses and reports. Assists service line directors with development and monitoring of service lines. Serves as a financial liaison to departmental directors within the organization. Knowledge of Medicare and Managed care reimbursement. Understands clinical indicators. Assists in EPSi decision support software database management. Maintains, reconciles, and validates data pertaining assigned modules of EPSi decision support software. Utilizes decision support software to effectively extract relevant clinical and financial data. Synthesizes and interprets elements from multiple systems into meaningful data sets. Maintains knowledge of changes occurring in healthcare Industry. Supports team by cross-training and/or providing back-up coverage as needed. Materially participates in various department and company-wide efficiency improvement projects, meetings & processes. Uses Meditech/Epic competently to perform all necessary job functions. Uses Microsoft Office Suite, as necessary for all job functions. Complete all mandatory learning requirements in a timely manner. Attend and actively participate in all department, team and/or committee meetings. Comply with all Skagit Regional Health, department and location specific policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Graduate of an accredited four (4) year college or university with course works in accounting, business administration or clinical degree in Nursing and Medical terminology certification required. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience/Training
Minimum five years of current healthcare finance, clinical decision support, accounting, cost accounting, budgeting required. Third party payer and/or billing experience preferred. Experienced in healthcare reimbursement, third party and government payer regulations is preferred. Project management as well as continuous quality improvement and team training is preferred. Knowledge of Allscripts EPSI, Epic, Midas is preferred.

Excellent verbal, written & interpersonal communication skills. Needs to have strong analytical/problem solving skills in order to assess complex problems quickly and develop multiple scenarios for solutions. Must have a proven history of working effectively under time constraints while managing multiple projects at one time. Advanced proficiency in the use of software applications such as MS Office Suite as well as data mining software. Must present a professional demeanor, encourage participation & collaboration in an open approachable style with both internal & external customers, be proactive, highly organized, detail oriented & able to respond in an accurate and timely manner to data requests. Experience in extracting data elements from multiple systems and incorporating into meaningful data is a must. Must have solid judgment and take personal responsibility and ownership of all work performed, enjoy working with numbers and be willing to be cross-trained for all functions within the Decision Support Team. Must be resourceful, innovative, confident, and credible with a high level of integrity.
