Dean of Law manages administrative functions of the college of law. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Law leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Law requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Law manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Law typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Responsibilities
Drafting of standard Family Law documents to include Letters, Court Orders, Standard Forms and occasionally more complex documents such as Motions with direction from Attorney. Handle and supervise scheduling of matters. Handle client contacts, letters and messages to clients.
Qualifications
Education (paralegal) or equivalent experience preferred. Verbal and written communication communication skills, computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite and Google. Self starter who is not intimidated to ask questions when needed. Good people skills with respect understanding and empathy for people going through the shock, confusion, anguish and anger related to their matters. Understanding of Attorney confidentiality rules and keeping identity of clients and their matters in strict secrecy. Professionalism at all times.
