Additionally, Dean of Fine Arts requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Fine Arts manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.     Trinity Washington, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, seeks an experienced academic administrator to join the leadership team for Trinity’s College of Arts & Sciences, a women’s college enrolling 800 students in full-time daytime undergraduate programs. Celebrating its 125th Anniversary, Trinity is both a Predominantly Black Institution and Hispanic Serving with a distinctive mission commitment to social justice arising from Trinity’s roots in the Catholic faith tradition. Trinity seeks an individual committed to this mission who will serve with high standards, high energy, and a demonstrated track record of setting and achieving worthy goals. 

    The Assistant Dean will have primary responsibility in the areas of General Education course assessments, major program assessments, course scheduling, adjunct faculty hires, and website updates.  Trinity is in the early phase of a Middle States Self-Study and the Assistant Dean will participate in the assessment work required for accreditation review. They will work with program chairs to hire, mentor, and evaluate adjunct faculty in CAS, and will take responsibility for summer hiring. They will assist the Dean in the supervision and development of educators who serve on the Dean’s team to teach General Education courses in math, reading and writing. They will assist the CAS Dean with annual student learning outcomes assessment of these General Education foundational and capstone courses. 

    The Assistant Dean joins Trinity at an exciting time as we rethink and redesign our First Year Curriculum and Experience to maximize student learning, retention, and success.  They will work closely with the Dean and faculty to implement the curriculum and will contribute to a variety of retention initiatives.  The Assistant Dean will collaborate with program chairs to complete annual program assessment and to build the CAS course schedule each semester. They will also work with colleagues to monitor and facilitate catalog and website changes and updates.  The Assistant Dean will be an essential member of the CAS leadership team and will take responsibility for other duties as assigned.   

    The successful candidate will be a tenacious problem-solver, identifying and implementing improvements in college processes.  The Assistant Dean must have excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to build collaborative relationships with faculty and staff across the university. For this role, Trinity seeks an excellent, knowledgeable, and reflective teacher, with capacity for promoting best practices in the service of Trinity’s mission to ensure educational opportunity for women.   

    This position is a full-time 12-month administrative appointment. Candidates must present at least 8 years of higher education experience, including at least four years of college teaching. Demonstrated evidence of administrative accomplishment and/or organizational leadership is required.  Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, are essential.  A minimum of a master’s degree is required, Ph.D. preferred.
