  • Nebraska State College System

  • Nature of Work
We’ve been making teachers for a century and a half.
Peru State, the first and oldest college in Nebraska, was founded in 1867 to educate men and women who wanted to become teachers. In the 156 years since, the College has always kept the education of teacher-candidates close to its heart.
Now a vibrant and well-rounded liberal-arts college, Peru State values the impressive heritage of its School of Education. But the School is not resting on its laurels. Recent innovations include the TELL Lab, a highly flexible classroom designed to help students practice their craft in the environments they will find when they start teaching, Project REACH (Raising Education Awareness Creating Hope), which is the School’s “future teacher academy,” and many more.
The new Dean for the School of Education will continue its legacy of vision, energy, passion, and dedication to student success. This is an exciting time for Peru State College and its School of Education, and the next Dean will shape the School’s future in bold and creative ways.
