Dean of Arts and Sciences jobs in Hawaii

The Volcano School of Arts & Sciences is seeking an Upper Elementary Teacher (3-5 grades) for the Kula ʻAmakihi blended (distance/in person) learning program.

Qualifications include:

• Teacher license (or license in process)
• A minimum of two years teaching experience, preferably in Hawai'i
• Knowledge of relevant content standards
• Knowledge and experience designing and delivering curriculum
• Understanding and experience with delivering flexible, differentiated instruction
• Ability to teach both online and in person
• Expertise delivering instruction in online synchronous/asynchronous format including Google Classroom and Google Suite
• Ability to use the natural environment as a learning laboratory
• Knowledge and respect for Hawaiian values, knowledge, and practices
• Ability to establish positive relationships and work with diverse students need including those with special needs
• Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills
• Ability to establish learning culture based on Growth Mindset and Positive Discipline
• Demonstrate positive attitude and Growth Mindset
• Enjoy professional collaboration
• Student-centered thinking and decision-making
• Professionally responsible
• Ability to travel to multiple locations in service area (primary work locations in Volcano and Mountain View)

Term: 10-month, Full-time, 40 hours per week

Pay: Base pay in accordance with HSTA collective bargaining salary schedule based on position level and years of service in Hawaiʻi, and:

• Maximum credits for private school and out-of-state experience
• Differential pay $8,000 for teachers with Hawaiian Language or Hawaiian Studies degree
• Differential pay of $7,500 for all VSAS teachers for teaching in “Hard-to-Staff” location
• Full benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement, Paid Sick Leave and State Holidays
