The Database Analyst reports to the Senior Enterprise
Systems Manager. This position is responsible for supporting the college Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP) system and related components. The individual in this
position will perform such tasks as applying software and operating system upgrades/patches,
monitoring system performance, and developing custom solutions as needed. Responsibilities Maintain the ERP and operating system software by
applying periodic upgrades and patches.
Functions to be performed by this position with the
assistance of other team members and/or professional support include assessing
the requirements, defining strategy, developing security, implementation and
delivery of an operational database.
Setup and maintain test instances of systems as
needed for end-user testing and work with end-users to resolve issues found
during testing.
Troubleshoot production problems and interact with vendors
for ERP and operating system, as well as other vendors support as needed to
resolve issues.
Respond to Technical Assistance Center (TAC) calls
as assigned.
Meet with Information Technology and other college
staff to understand and define new projects and enhancement requests.
Develop
custom packages, functions, tables, views, and triggers as needed.
Document all custom solutions developed.
Keep pace with latest technology and assist
end-users in reviewing and implementing new Banner features.
Lead database design and implementation for new
application development projects that are relational database based.
Assist Information Technology staff in reviewing
production database enhancement requests.
Monitor the ERP database and all other operating
system database instances.
Work with Information Security Manager to develop
and ensure compliance with security procedures for monitoring and controlling
access to the institutional Banner database and other institutional databases.
Work with the IT staff to manage operating systems,
performance, and capacity planning for the ERP and related servers.
This position requires the individual to be on-call
in case of system malfunctions or to work off-hours to perform system upgrades
and maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related
area required.
Three years of application development experience required.
Two years of experience with Linux operating systems
required.
Three years relational database experience with
Oracle strongly preferred.
Experience with TOAD, SQL, and PL/SQL strongly
preferred.
Experience working with ERP systems, Ellucian SCT
Banner preferred.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal
communication skills; experience working with administrators, senior managers,
and members of other departments.
Organizational skills for developing project
timeline for upgrades, patches and release installs needed.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex administrative
Information Technology projects.
