Position Mission and Summary
Hope College is seeking a Database Programmer/Analyst with a developer background to help us create and maintain efficient integration of data between several software systems while also working to develop data structures that support institutional reporting and analytics. Part of a small team of developers and project managers within the IT department, we want someone who will also collaborate with larger, cross-functional teams to modernize and transform the college’s data, integrations, and business intelligence infrastructure.
Responsibilities and Outcomes
Collaboratively with the data and project management teams, you will:
Develop

Developing Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes to move data between enterprise systems and business resources.
- Creating new or changing existing data sources for administrative departments to utilize with business processes and practices.
- A partner in the implementation/development of new software as directed by management.
- Constantly learning about rising technologies and aid in determining their appropriate use.
- Demonstrated Outcomes:
- Help create new integration processes for the data warehouse and other third party software.
- Be able to identify key data structures at Hope College.
- Create foundational reporting data structures in the enterprise reporting platform(s).
- Collaborate with teams outside of CIT to help new software implementations be successful.
Maintain

Maintaining data integration processes between Ellucian Banner, Slate CRM, and other campus data systems using standard ETL tools.
- Working to understand and document business processes, data definitions, and existing data structures for the ERP and other third party systems.
- Assisting in quality assurance efforts to maintain accuracy of data and the data dictionary.
- Demonstrated Outcomes:
- In a timely manner, troubleshoot and resolve data integration issues across Hope systems.
- Provide documentation on processes developed by the employee or support that has been given to other areas of the college.
- Create and maintain appropriate test strategies for Hope systems.
