The role you’ll contribute:
- Support the corporate mission and objectives of AdventHealth System and AHS Information Services.
- Follow the policies and procedures set forth by both organizations while adhering to the business standards and ethics expected of all AHS and AHS IS personnel.
- Provide communication and cooperation with all team members within AHS IS, AHS, and our users to ensure all AHS IS assigned projects are achieved in a consistent, timely, and quality manner in order to preserve and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Participate in all appropriate technical and non-technical tasks associated with a variety of projects, including enhancements, modifications, upgrades, support, etc.
- Ensure proper procedures are followed for functional analysis, design and development of specifications, testing, implementation, and support of all hardware and software solutions.
- Provide technical assessments, when requested, on products being considered for purchase by AHS and AHS IS.
- Maintain professional relationships with associated vendors and business partners to be able to provide high quality services for our users.
- Track broad range of emerging technologies to determine viability to AHS and AHS IS. Interpret meaning and impact to executive leadership. Participate in establishment of strategic direction and usage of emerging technologies.
- Take part in the recruitment process for the Technical Services Department and participate in recruiting potential employees for other AHS and AHS IS departments.
- Provide high quality training sessions for other AHS and AHS IS personnel.
- Prepare and provide status as well as progress reports for all work activities.
- Participate in support activities on a 7 * 24 on-call basis.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Applications – Projects. Oversee the implementation, support, and maintenance of all software applications hosted on Intel-based, iSeries, and pSeries systems, including the Cerner Millennium product suites. Programming languages include VB, Basic, SQL scripting, CCL, etc
- Applications – Database Administration. Oversee database administration for all AHS IS supported databases including Oracle, SQL, DB2, Sybase, Informix, and proprietary databases. Oversee the design, creation, maintenance, support, security, and backup/restore procedures for all databases utilized with the AHS IS core applications.
- Applications – Process. Ensure proper functional analysis, design and development of specifications, coding, testing, implementation, and support of all enhancements and modifications are performed. This includes overseeing all release level upgrades and ongoing maintenance of software, including regulatory updates.
- Applications – Specifications. Review vendor specifications and formulating method of implementing them using the corporate approved coding languages and standards.
- Applications – Change Control. Responsible for coordinating and managing change control requests though the appropriate change control committee or via AHS IS MIS change procedures.
- Applications – Timelines. Responsible for tasks within the project plan to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks. Estimating time required to deliver products to client based on their current work load.
- Applications – Vendor. Familiarity with the different vendor applications in order to make sound judgment decisions regarding integration of the products into the AHS IS suite of software.
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer
- Computer Associates Service Desk
- Specialized Knowledge and Skills. Knowledge of healthcare business objectives and strategies. Superior management skills. Time management, communications, decision making, presentation, human relations, and organization skills. Demonstrate an understanding of health care system application integration. Technical skills with Microsoft applications, relational databases, server administration tools, operating systems, and system administration.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Two to three years managerial experience. Possess extensive experience with information technologies and a thorough knowledge of relational databases, programming languages, network topography, data center operations, change control methodologies, help desk processes, and system utilities needed to support software solutions on client server and mid-range systems. Substantial experience in managing a variety of personnel on multiple projects. Specific experience desired with Cerner Millennium, AIX, ESS, SAN, HA, mid-range systems, Intel-based systems, network infrastructure, etc.
- College degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred with Business or Healthcare concentration
